Explosion Registration Form 2021

Explosion is a Heights of Hope creative arts and skill building program for children, youth, and adults in our community to explore and create together!

This year, all classes will take place at the Heights of Hope Community Center (450 Stratford Way). All classes will be outside or in the covered garage and masks and social distancing will be required. Sign up by February 28 to secure your spot. Classes are $5 per person for the whole session. 1. Spy Kids

Fridays, 3:30-4:30pm, March 19-April 30

Grades 1-5


Do you have what it takes to be a SPY? Join the Boys and Girls Club staff to find out. Spy Kids has gadgets, games, and fun! Explore the world of being a spy kid, and let's see if we can make the world a better place!


2. Pure Michigan Nature

Thursdays, 3:30-4:30, March 11-April 29 (No class April 8)

Grade 2-Adults


Explore the world of trees, insects, plants, reptiles, birds, fossils, and woodland creatures! Each week, we’ll learn about a different aspect of nature, then spend time outside in the neighborhood or across the street at VanRaalte farm.


3. Tie Dye

Fridays, 5-6pm, April 16-May 21

Grade 6-Adults

Do you love color? How about tie dye? If so, this is the class for you! Join Miss Mandy to learn a little about the history of tie dye, different tying and dyeing techniques, and how to express yourself using color! You will also get to make fun creations to bring home!



4. Babysitting

Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30pm, March 17-May 19 (No class April 7 or May 5)

Grades 4-9


Looking for a fun class?? Look no further. Julie is going to be offering a Basics in Babysitting class. So whether you are just starting to stay home alone, or are becoming the age to start babysitting this is the class for you. We will talk about everything from changing diapers to watching kids that just don't seem to listen. We will have fun challenges, games, and even get some hands on training. We will go over safety, easy meal prep, what to do in case of an emergency and everything in between. Let's have some fun and get you ready for some real life experiences.



5. Build It Weekend Workshop

Saturday-Sunday, April 24-25

Grade 3-Adults


Learn the basics of woodworking as you help build some tables for the back porch of the Community Center. The Build It guys will show you the ropes as you learn to measure, cut and assemble with wood, operate power tools, and ensure safety!
